Myriad Botanical Gardens has been named operator of the newly named Scissortail Park, a MAPS 3 project. Join Maureen Heffernan, executive director of Myriad Botanical Gardens, as she presents images of Scissortail Park highlighting its new features and elements that will further the downtown renaissance. There will also be a discussion on urban park trends and the audience will be encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions for new park programming.

The event will be held Thursday, September 7, from 6:30 – 8: 30 p.m. beginning with a cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres 6:30 p.m. Heffernan’s presentation begins at 7 p.m. and the Q&A is at 8 p.m. Planned for inside Park House Events Center, this is a FREE event, open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited.

Scissortail Park is a 70-acre urban oasis extending from the core of downtown Oklahoma City to the shore of the Oklahoma River. Design plans for the park call for everything from a cafe and sports facilities to a tranquil lake and nature walks. The Skydance Bridge will connect the north section of the park to the south section. Construction is under way on the 40-acre north section with scheduled completion in 2019; the 30-acre south section is scheduled completion in 2021.
